This beautiful foot and leg is from an Ice Age Horse, Equus caballus, and is fossilised and very well preserved in a glue solution to preserve it's beauty.
It was dredged from the bottom of the North Sea by fishermen between the Netherlands and Great Brittain.
The foot contain 4 bones: the metacarpal, the phalanx 1 , phalanx 2 and phalanx 3 ( the hoof)
Equus caballus lived in Late Pleistocene 20,000 – 50,000 years ago in large herds, accompanied by Woolly Rhinoceros, Deer, Irish elk, Bison, Woolly Mammoth, and carnivores like Wolf, Bear, Hyena and Cave Lion.
